Grooming and Coat Care Requirements:
The
Kuvasz coat
needs minimal care aside from brushing, preferably using a pin
brush. Bathing is not recommended very often as it destroys
the unique "dirt-shedding" characteristics and protective
weather-resistant oils of the coat.
Brushing is recommended on a regular basis to keep the coat in good
condition and to remove loose hair. This is especially
important during the
shedding season!
You should also be prepared to trim eyebrow hairs with blunt
scissors. Those hairs can grow long and curl into the eyes.
If the dog is not walked or run on asphalt, trimming the toenails
should be done regularly along with cleaning their ears and brushing
their teeth (use dog toothpaste only).
Do not shave the dog in the summer as their coat acts to protect
them and their skin from the sun and heat.
